Just like water is our most precious resource to stay alive, fruit and veges are another staple. So how do you keep your fruit and veges fresh in order to ensure that you do not waste this precious and can be rather expensive resource in order to stay alive?
Well the brains trust over at the Facebook Group: Everything Caravan and Camping have freely given their ideas, tips and strategies to this very question. So here goes:
Wrap individual veges in a paper towel and then wrap in alfoil. This will assist the veges to last for ages.
Use a vac sealer to seal the plastic bag in which you have placed your cut pumpkin or sweet poteato in.
Purchase from KMart a range of fridge containers in small to medium sizes.
Wrap lettuce in paper towel and then store in a zip lock plastic bag to keep fresh.
Wash cucumbers, zuccinis, capiscun and/or celery in 1 teaspoon of bi-carb soda. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Then wrap in foil.
Place paper towel at bottom of container. Place fruit and/or veges in. Then place paper towel on top & close lid.
Purchase Fresh N Crisp bags from Wollies to store your fruit and veges in.
Place fruit and veges wrapped in alfoil in a zip up insulated bag. Keeps veges airtight and together.
Break the lettuce up and place in a zip lock container.
Well there you have some ideas, tips and strategies to keep your fruit and veges fresh to be able to eat when required.
Remember, if you are crossing any State Border you will need to ensure you have consumed your fruit and veges prior to crossing. Otherwise, you may find that they will be tossed out by the border inspectors.
